About Us

Our Story

Steps2 is an approved WSCC wide supported living provider, providing support to people with Lifelong disability, autism and mental health in their own homes or a family member’s home. We have one 24-hour accommodation-based scheme in Worthing where support is provided 365 days per year with a sleep-in member of staff.
Our vision is to help our clients to achieve maximum independence, to enhance the quality of their lives and to support them to be as much part of their community and society as everyone else.

Our service includes all aspects of an individual’s life to enable and promote independence and covers areas such as personal care, health and medication, general wellbeing, emotional and behavioural support, communication needs, eating and drinking requirements, mobility needs, environmental adaptations, support with personal finances, correspondence, domestic tasks, meal planning, food shopping, meal preparation, socialising and making friends, maintaining relationships with family, travel training and maintaining meaningful daytime occupation. We also support clients to go on individual or group holidays.

Steps2 was formed as a company in 2011 by 2 Occupational Therapists and an Occupational Therapy assistant to privatise an existing NHS social club as the funding for this service was ceased, yet the demand for it to continue was still high. As the Company became established, we were approached by parents requesting supported living support and so the Company branched out and opened its doors to include all other areas that promote and enhance independent living services.

The owner and managing Director of Steps2 is a qualified Occupational therapist with 30 years of experience in working with adults with learning disabilities which has been through working in both an NHS setting and within West Sussex County Council. The Director has continued her registration with the Health Care Professions Council and provides Diverse placements for Occupational Therapy students, which adds to the quality of the care we deliver and ensure we stay abreast of the latest developments. Our expertise lies in independent living assessments, equipment assessments, manual handling recommendations, sensory processing assessments, activity programmes and environmental analysis which enables us to provide both holistic assessments and in-depth care plans.

Steps2 is registered with CQC and during our last inspection received an overall rating of: Good. We have not had any regulatory offences/requirements for improvements to date.

We believe the quality of our service is closely linked to the quality of our staff. Staff training and management is therefor one of our main priorities. All staff complete the Care certificate and then progress to annual mandatory training. Staff receive regular supervision and annual appraisals to identify any additional learning needs. Our aim is to involve our clients in every stage of our service from the initial interview stage to person centred care plans and reviews.
